29/11/1790 Sherborne and Yeovil Mercury Saturday se'nnight, a man of Morbath being troubled with a tapeworm, had the curiosity to make an incision in his abdomen and deliberately cut off six inches of the intestine in order to be reneged of such a troublesome guest. He had previously provided himself with a needle and thread (which were found by his side when discovered in this shocking situation) for the purpose of sewing up his wound - he survived until the next evening.
